Derek currently is the Education Manager of the newly constructed Black Barn Fine Art Studio in Kingston, WA, founded by artist Eileen Sorg. Derek also teaches various classes & workshops at the studio, which is a beautiful 4200 square foot facility hosting workshops for a variety of traditional media. Derek is also a faculty member at Northwest College of Art & Design in Tacoma, WA. The drawing, painting, and illustration classes he teaches there are part of a curriculum in a BFA in Visual Communication in which students are enrolled in for 3 years. This learning opportunity is designed for artists who wish to bring more of a sense of light & shadow to their paintings.
